- Fitting Expose Digitiser to Afterburner
- ---------------------------------------
-
- 1) Remove jumper from Afterburner's processor expansion slot.
- 2) Remove CPU fan from upper side of heatsink.
- 3) Remove plastic fan lugs from heatsink.
- 4) Attatch bridge blocks to expansion slot sockets on Expose.
- 5) Fit Expose to Afterburner.
- 6) Mount CPU fan VERTICALLY between Afterburner, ST-RAM board
- and grey (plastic) case support pole. Fan must be directed
- to blow air between upper side of CPU/heatsink and populated
- side of Expose card.
-
- Bridge blocks:
-
- Expose cannot be mounted onto the Afterburner without some form
- of bridging blocks placed on the expansion slot - otherwise the
- CPU heatsink will get seriously in the way. These bridge blocks
- can be manufactured from PCB-mounted expansion port sockets which
- can be obtained from various electronic component suppliers. All
- you need is a connector with suitably spaced holes on one side and
- pins on the other - with at least 10mm of plastic in the middle to
- create a suitable space between both cards when fitted.
-
- NB:
-
- Expose is equipped with an on-board 40Mhz oscillator, and all it's
- internal timing is based on this clock. This means Expose is still
- compatible with increased BUS speeds like 18 or 20Mhz since the bus
- is not needed for synchronisation with the video signal.
-
- As with all upgrades involving speeding things up or adding new
- hardware, it is important to make sure everything is cooled using
- a fan or some other adequate form of airflow.
-
- Have fun, and don't blow the things up. They are not cheap! :)
